Erick is the Communications Coordinator and Research Analyst for NILOA and recently co-authored A New Decade for Assessment:Embedding Equity into Assessment Praxis with NILOA Executive Director, Dr. Natasha Jankowski.
As part of the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA), Erick Montenegro conducts timely assessment research and leads NILOA’s Equity Initiative. He has authored a report on assessment practices at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), two Occasional Papers advancing the national conversation around equity in assessment, and has led a research team in the exploration of student learning outcomes as MSIs. Erick has presented at numerous academic conferences with the primary focus of advancing equitable assessment practice. Erick is a doctoral candidate in the Education Policy, Organization and Leadership program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Erick received a dual B.S. in Marketing and Business Administration with a concentration in International Business, and an Ed.M. in Education Policy, Organization and Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education both from the University of Illinois. His research interests include issues of equity in assessment, culturally responsive assessment, outcomes assessment practices at Minority-Serving Institutions, and issues affecting Latinx students in higher education.
